Just a short letter to let you know that I have had a communication from Rebecca Stewart of 7 Wonder Production Company. They are producing a series for The BBC which will be aired in the Spring of 2016 entitled “The Peoples History of Pop”.
They are crowd sourcing peoples memories and memorabilia from across U.K. covering all music from 1956 to 1996. Obviously Gerry and The Pacemakers were, and still are a huge part of the British Music scene and so the series would not be complete without some great memories of being a Gerry and The Pacemakers fan back in the 60’s.
They are requiring physical mementoes i.e. ticket stubs, programmes, records etc. as well as the verbal stories which go with them. They are interested in finding any fans who remember singing along to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at Liverpool’s famous Kop.
The production company are doing a partnership with History Pin – an online sharing platform, so all you need to do is go on to www.phop.co.uk to upload your memories.
The best of what’s uploaded will then be featured in the documentary.
So please send your memories in!!!!!!
The September dates for Gerry Cross The Mersey, all went very well with Gerry and the lads in great voice and not forgetting Rachel. Dates are already in the diary for February – May 2016 and will be on this website when finalised.
After the untimely death of Cilla Black in August, Gerry was in great demand for interviews. He and Ian his P.A. had an early morning train from Liverpool to London to appear live on TV Am Good Morning (as previously mentioned in Newsletter 122) and then on ITV This Morning. He was also interviewed live on BBC Radio 4. On returning to Liverpool he was interviewed by both the ITV and BBC news teams.
He was asked by well over a dozen news channels for interviews, but obviously can only be in one place at a time. Both Gerry and Ian certainly had a hectic 24 hours.
Talking of Ian, he has just completed twenty years as Gerry’s P.A. I remember meeting Ian for the first time when he brought Gerry to an engagement in Harrogate on October 14th 1995. I am always grateful to Ian for his input with the newsletters.
Gerry’s next show will be in Scotland November 2nd -4th as part of the All Star 60’s Show (See newsletter 122).
Until Next Time and don’t forget those memories !!.
